Updates to Messiah reopen plan for the week of July 27

The following are updates to the Messiah University Return Plan, originally announced on the University’s Bridge to Reopening Messiah website on July 15. Any additional updates will be announced on this blog on a weekly basis each Thursday.

  • Returning student move-in: Returning residential students are permitted to bring two guests to assist them with move-in to their campus residence (was previously incorrectly announced as one guest).  Incoming new and transfer residential students are also asked to limit their guests to two family members to assist them (as previously announced).
  • Athletics: The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced that, in response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and new NCAA related guidelines, the Conference will be suspending all intercollegiate athletic competitions for the remainder of 2020. The MAC will be working with the NCAA and/or regional conferences to develop spring competition opportunities for fall sports as circumstances permit. The University informed student-athletes and coaches of this change following the MAC’s public announcement last week. Read more details.
  • Student educational travel: All domestic and international student educational travel for the 2020-2021 academic year, including J-term and May-term has been cancelled or postponed. (This expands Messiah’s previously announced cancellation of fall semester educational travel.) The institution is committed to providing alternatives for any students who need these experiences in order to meet graduation requirements
